Money or weapons are not a source of strength. Short term, the power of a gun may seem stronger. Long term, the power of truth and compassion is stronger. Truth is the source of strength. |

| Yes, you can be in a meeting AND toning your body at the same time! Stuck in traffic? No worries! You can work on that toosh on your way to your next sweat session.
First, make sure you are sitting tall, abs in, shoulders relaxed. - Seat - As you sit, squeeze your glutes for 10 seconds and release. Do 10 sets.
- Inner thighs - Place a reusable mug or water bottle between your thighs and squeeze for 10 seconds. Release and repeat to complete 10 sets.
- Abdominals - Squeeze your naval in towards your spine as you continue sitting tall. Hold for 30 seconds without straining the lower back. Repeat to complete 3 sets.
These toning techniques are not meant to replace your cardio workouts or strengthening sessions. They are a great way to burn more calories and tone these problem areas during your regular work day. |

Skipping breakfast? Here are 10 reasons why eating a nutritious breakfast will help you stay healthier and have more energy throughout the day.
1. Keep your metabolism higher.Regular meals throughout the day result in a steady burn of calories. Irregular meals, like skipping breakfast, result in a slower caloric burn. When you don’t eat regularly, your body tries to conserve energy and slows your metabolism. It makes sense to conserve energy if you don’t know when your next meal will be or if you know you won’t be eating anything between dinner tonight and lunch the next day. When your metabolism slows down, you burn fewer calories and gain more weight.

| It's been a month now since we set our New Year’s resolutions. How are you tracking to yours? In January, gyms and fitness studios around the nation are packed. By February, however, the crowds have already started to dwindle. Do we really lack the discipline or motivation to keep going? No! I know as well as you do that most of us want to be healthy and have the motivation to do it. What we need are smart goals that help us incrementally change our behavior and develop new habits. New habits sustained over a period of time become part of your lifestyle.

If you are feeling a lack of energy and motivation, connecting with others can be a great way to break out of that winter funk. - Give from your heart - Volunteer to help family with a chore or project, take soup over to a sick friend, or offer to help with an event at your child's school.
- Invite a friend - You don't have to wait for an invitation to see your friends. Take initiative and invite a friend over for tea, meet up for a walk and get some fresh air, or watch a favorite movie at your house. Find an excuse to celebrate your friendship.
- Show your love - Connecting with others can just mean showing your appreciation for them. Send someone you care about a hand-written note, call a family member and tell them you were thinking about them, or make dinner for your friends for no reason at all.
As you reach out to warm the heart of others, you'll see that your heart is warmed and brightened in the process.

Before pouring your favorite dressing on your salad, take a look at the nutrition label and ingredients list. Are there ingredients you can't pronounce or would never have in your pantry? Is it loaded with fat, sodium, or sugar? Step away from that dressing!
Homemade salad dressing can be healthier in many ways. First, you decide what goes in and can choose ingredients that best support your dietary goals. Second, you control the quality and quantity of the ingredients.
Here are 2 super simple recipes to start with. All you need is a mixing bowl and a whisk. Vary your ingredients to suite your taste, and use fresh and organic ingredients whenever possible.
Lemon Mustard Dressing: 1. Fresh lemon juice 2. Extra virgin olive oil 3. Dijon-style mustard
Oil & Vinegar Dressing: 1. Extra virgin olive oil 2. Balsamic vinegar 3. Salt and pepper 4. Chopped parsley

ask your soul. your soul will not blame you for having cared too little about politics, for having exerted yourself too little, hated your enemies too little, or too little fortified your frontiers. but she will perhaps blame you for so often having feared and fled from her demands, for never having had time to give her, your youngest and fairest child, no time to play with her, no time to listen to her song, for too often having sold her for money, betrayed her for advancement... you will be neurotic and a foe to life - so says your soul - if you neglect me, and you will be destroyed if you don't turn to me with a wholly new love and concern. - Herman Hesse

The sanskrit term for the heart is krithyam. It contains the roots for the words give, receive, and exchange. It makes sense then, that we feel lonelinest when we've built walls around our hearts. We've shut off that exchange.
Even the physical heart functions in a mode of giving and receiving. We must then bring down the barriers we've built out of fear. We must open our hearts and surrendor to love; love for ourselves and love for others. This is what living in the moment is all about! |
